Due to the encompassing vision of our founder, Venerable Thubten Tenzin, Blue Padma Services Inc. originally manifested in 2004 as Padma Care Services. Our aim was to provide Buddhist teachings in a workshop environment, as a method for healing the mental and physical problems plaguing Western society, such as depression, addictions and trauma. In 2005 we expanded our vision, and as Blue Padma Services we have gradually developed methods and services to fulfill our objective: giving Australians - and Westerners in general - access to Buddhism in a pure form, with a focus on healing. Our activities are based in the firm belief that Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings are the greatest medicine. |
What does Blue Padma mean? |
From Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism by Lama Govinda The lotus is a symbol of spiritual unfoldment, of the holy, the pure. The Buddha-legend reports that when the newly born infant Siddartha, who later became the Buddha, touched the ground and made His first seven steps, seven lotus-blossoms grew up from the earth. Thus, each step of the Bodhisattva is an act of spiritual unfoldment. Meditating Buddhas are represented as sitting on lotus-flowers, and the unfoldment of spiritual vision in meditation is symbolized b y the fully-opening lotus-blossom, whose centre and whose petals carry the images, attributes or mantras of various Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, according to their relative position and mutual relationship. The original meaning of this symbolism may be seen from the following simile: Just as the lotus grows up from the darkness of the mud to the surface of the water, opening its blossom only after it has raised itself beyond the surface, and remaining unsullied from both earth and water, which nourished it - in the same way the mind, born in the human body, unfolds its true qualities ('petals') after it has raised itself beyond the turbid floods of passions and ignorance, and transforms the dark powers of the depths into the radiantly pure nectar of Enlightenment-conciousness (Bodhicitta), the incomparable jewel (mani) in the lotus-blossom (padma). Thus the saint grows beyond the world and surpasses it. |
BLUE represents the blue colour of the lotuses Buddha Tara holds. PADMA is Sanskrit for Lotus. |
We all have the inner strength and capacity to help ourselves and be well and happy. The commitment of Blue Padma Services Inc. is to help human beings who have destructive emotions to heal those destructive emotions in an alternative manner. Instead of seeking and hiding behind mind altering substances such as prescription and other drugs, our method is to review our lives—to try to understand the reasons why. We aim to heal destructive emotional states such as anger, depression, grief, guilt and fear with this process. The responsible aim of Blue Padma Services, in its alternative technique, is to encourage us not to hide behind, but to confront these destructive emotions with courage. To survive and participate in our lives we need to have skills and all these skills come from the mind. So, that's where we begin, with our mind, working with our mind, easing our mind and developing a peaceful mind. |
